Load up that shop!

Happy Tuesday everyone!!!
My current crafty goal is to stock up my etsy shop with goodies!! My craft cabinet is overflowing with supplies so I really have no excuse! Must produce the goods :)
Here are a couple new additions that you can find in my shop :)

"Celebration Package" - It's a GIRL!!!
It's a combo pack including a pom pom garland and glitter banner. If I had my "It's a boy" set ready when baby Oliver made his appearance, it would have been fun and festive to decorate the hospital room for my sis. Maybe for her next baby, I'll have my act together :)
I've also been experimenting with some new packaging :)
I am working on some St.Patrick's day pom pom's right now, but I was able to finish up my Easter one first :)
SO happy and bright (probably one of my favorites so far)

As you can see, I had a very successful night of pom poming while watching the Oscar's on Sunday. It was a "Marapom" or a "Pomathon." Ha ha!! Cassie came up with those gems :)

I also made a cute scrappy bunting for myself out of my vintage sheet...
pretty pretty pretty :)
Definitely dreaming of Spring over here :)
Now go people....GO shopping!!!! HERE!

Oh the randomness.

Happy happy weekend everyone! It is a beautiful day here in SoCal and the kiddos and I will be heading out to a b-day party soon. Just wanted to pop in and share some of the randomness that has been going on here lately.
As most of you have guessed, I have been pretty much spending all of my free time snuggling this little guy:
He is the sweetest little bundle! SO sweet and tiny and adorable. I love him SO much!
While I have been in snuggle mode, my sweet hubby has been taking care of business at home. Case in point:
This may not look like much to you, but the before shot was CRAZY! Fortunately for you, I don't have a before picture. You're just going to have to take my word for it. Door couldn't close. Stuff falling out. Nothing was even folded in there. Seriously. It was nuts! Thanks Josh!

I have also started crafting again. Well, I have a lot of things in the works with nothing really to show for it. I made 2 dozen cupcake toppers for a friend's baby's b-day party:
They came out pretty cute :)

I also cut into my new vintage sheet and some burlap to make some happy Spring buntings...

I'm a pom-pom-ing fool. I need to stock up my Etsy shop again (it has been seriously neglected).
Although I have been in a thrifty rut lately, I seriously lucked out a couple days ago. A little back story: My sis bought an awesome pillow a while back from TJ Max. It was sort of grain-sack like and I was in love with it. I wasn't in love with the $29.99 price tag. the other day I popped into a local thrift shop to look around. Sitting there on a random couch were not one, but two of these awesome pillows. AND, they had $9 price tags on them. YAY!!! They were almost new as they still had the original TJ Max tags of $29.99 on them too.
Look at the awesome texture...
I think they will live on my (not-so-stylish) futon.
{happy dance}.

May your heart be as warm and happy as mine is this weekend :)

{sigh}.

Still in Ollie-land :)

Here's a few more pics of my new little nephew Oliver. I am seriously over the moon in love with him and my heart kinda aches when I'm not with him. I should be back to crafts and diy soon. It's hard to use a glue gun when I'm busy kissing his sweet little cheeks :)
Happy President's Day everyone!

(a few pictures in the hospital of Oliver and his Nana - my mom. These black and whites were taken by our friend Kelly with Bubba-loo photography).

I stopped by the hospital yesterday to get the little guy all ready to come home :)
And then he settled in nicely in his new digs. He's such a sweet tiny little peanut, I can't stand the cuteness!!!!
Seriously.so.in.LOVE!

Tag

My sweet friend Cassie over at Primitive & Proper tagged me in a little "getting to know you" game.

Here are my answers to Cassie's questions:
1. If you could meet any person in American history, who would it be and why? This is seriously a tough call. I'm not much of a history buff, but I have learned about some amazing people throughout our Nation's history. I think I would have to say Martin Luther King. He will forever inspire me with his dreams that all people should be treated as equals. I agree with my whole heart in those dreams and know that if he wasn't unjustly taken from us, our world would be a better place because of him.

2. What do you consider to be your greatest talent? Singing karaoke. HA! not. I guess I would say crafting. Anything that involves a glue gun really :)

3. If you could go back in time and live in any period, decade, era, where would you land? I think all time periods have their good elements and bad. That being said, I think it would be fun to be around during the 70's disco craze. Not for the drugs or scandalous sex, but for the sweet outfits and dance moves. Awesome!!

4. If you could have unlimited credit at any store, what store would it be? My first instinct was to say Target. But then I realized that most of things I want from there are reasonably affordable. So, I changed my answer to Pottery barn. My house would be seriously stylin'!

5. What is your most prized possession? My engagement/wedding ring. Not only for it's financial value, but for the words that were exchanged between my husband and I when I got it. A sparkly reminder of our forever love :)

6. What are you most looking forward to in 2012? My nephew Oliver being born (he's due tomorrow), going camping in Yosemite with my family in May, going to MD to visit friends in May, and for my friend Susie's wedding in July. It's going to be a wonderful year :)
7. What is your favorite season and why? Summer. for sure. I am a beach girl at my core and I could never ever move away from this paradise I call home :)

8. Do you have any bad habits? Snacking at night. BAD.

9. What do you miss most about being a child? Feeling pure joy without any responsibility. My parents made it so my world was safe, happy, and secure. It was perfection :)
10. When you go to the zoo, what is the animal you can't leave without seeing? The monkeys. They seem so human to me sometimes and they are so so cute.
11. If you could rename MY blog, what would you name it? (sneaky sneaky). Hmmm, let's see. I think I would call it  "Creating my happy Highland." or "Highland diy." Ha ha, I don't know. Way too hard of a question friend.

Happy happy V-day everyone!! Muah!

Smalls.

Happy Sunday everyone. I hope you all are having a wonderful weekend. Josh took Noah on a movie date, Hayden is napping, and I have the quiet house all to myself. Ahhh, paradise. Anyway, this past Friday I had the pleasure of spending some rare kid-free time with my close friend Kelly (aka Bubba-loo photography). We saw the movie "The Vow" together (which was a super cute chick flick) and then she took me to this awesome estate sale place that she frequents. I think what they do is take all of the leftover junk that doesn't sell at estate sales and sell it out of this big junky type warehouse place. Needless to say, there is a definite mix of pure trash and awesome treasures there. Just my kind of place. I came away with a few "smalls,"  and it felt great to thrift. If I haven't mentioned it before, I have been in a thrifty rut lately.

I got 2 beautiful vintage sheets to make some pretty buntings with:

I got an awesome milk glass batter bowl and a pretty footed plate (hard to see the footed part in the pic). I'm a sucker for anything milk glass.
Of course I had to take home this sweet little swan. I have been very picky about my swans lately :)
And I found a pretty vintage book that has just the perfect "old" looking pages for my many book page projects :)
I scored everything, the 2 sheets, bowl, plate, swan, & book all for $8. Sweet :) I can't wait to go back there again to see what else I can find!
Happy day to you all :)

Scarf mania

Happy HaPpY Friday people!! YAY!!!! It's a bright sunny SoCal day and I'm ready for the weekend ;)
Some of you may remember not too long ago, I posted about my pinspired t-shirt scarf here. Well, I made some more but this time, I dyed my own t's to make some pretty spring scarves. I started out with 5 men's size XXXL white seamless shirts (fruit of the loom I think) from Walmart. $12.99 for the 5 pack.
I dyed 2 of the shirts fuschia and 3 of them teal (by following the instructions on the box).

HaPpY colors :)

I'll spare you the whole tutorial this time since you can go back and read it in my other post. Here are the after shots (taken on 2 different days, I didn't change my outfit for the sake of the post, ha ha).
Pink:

Teal (more aqua-ish I think):
They were  made with 2 t-shirts each. I definitely like the fuller look with these :)
I had one teal shirt left over so I decided to experiment and I made a basic jersey infinity scarf:
I just cut the bottom seam off the shirt, and cut a straight line under the armpits to make a giant tube. I stretched it out a bit, then looped it around my neck. I may even like this one better than the others :)
So, there you have it....scarf mania!
Have a GREAT weekend everyone :)

Oh yeah, I almost forgot, I treated myself to a $5 bouquet from Trader Joe's today :)
Happy :)

25 things...

I decided to jump on the band wagon and copy my pals Cassie & Andi :)

Here are 25 random facts about me:

1. Flip flops are my footwear of choice pretty much year round.

2. I don't wear chap stick....like, ever. I don't like the way it feels on my lips.

3. I like scary movies (but won't watch them when I am home alone).

4. I feel like I look my best when I'm at home. Meaning, I will get ready at home and head out into the world thinking I look pretty darn good. Then, I'll catch my reflection in a window or mirror while out and about and think, what the!? I thought I looked WAY better than that!?

5. I could eat cereal for all 3 meals and be totally happy.

6. I am dreading (& partially avoiding) potty training my daughter.

7. I'm hooked on mentos candy at the moment.

8. Apple juice gives me a headache.

9. I can't get in the habit of flossing my teeth. I really NEED to, but I can't ever stick with it for longer than a few days.

10. I am very observant.

11. I have a REALLY great memory (seriously, I remember the most random stuff from long ago).

12. I am a very loyal friend.

13. I love the way it feels to brush my teeth. I do it multiple times a day.

14. I am not a road-rage type driver.

15. Even though I am content with the person I am, if I were given a magic wand I would change sooooo many things about myself.

16. I love tv. LOVE it.

17.  I have no tolerance for uncomfortable shoes.

18. My purse is usually a total mess.

19. I think about shopping pretty much all the time.

20. Sounds crazy but I actually don't love volunteering in my son's kindergarten class. I do it twice a month and I can tell he likes me to be there which is reason enough to go. I guess I struggle with having enough patience for my own kids, let alone a class of squirly ones that don't belong to me.

21. I have 100% confidence in my husband 100% of the time. No matter what. It is an amazing feeling.

22. I have had a mild case of vertigo (dizziness) ever since I graduated college.

23. I would have another baby if my husband was on board. It would be crazy, but sooo worth it!

24. I hope to go to Europe with my sister and girl friends one day. Even if we're little old ladies, I really hope we can make it happen.

25. The beach is probably my number one favorite place to be on the planet :)

That's all folks!

A bowl and a chalkboard.

(Do you like my creative title today?? ha ha!!)

Happy Tuesday people!! At the moment, we are having our carpets cleaned. Noah is at school, and Josh, Hayden, and I are stuck in the kitchen together. 2 of my favorite people and yummy food. Not too bad if you ask me :)

Yesterday I gave my trigger finger a small workout and knocked out a few quick projects with spray paint. The first one turned out great, but the second one may be a fail. Take a look....

I have had this brass bowl on my coffee table ever since it didn't sell at the holiday boutique that my sis and I did back in November. I loved the shape of it, and it's the perfect size to hold our coasters. The brass wasn't too bad actually, but I felt like sprucing it up a bit.
BEFORE:

AFTER:
So fresh and so clean clean :)
I still plan on using this bowl for our coasters, but I took the after picture while we are still trapped in the kitchen.
It looks like a totally different bowl :)

My second project was a re-do from another item that didn't sell at the boutique. See that white framed chalkboard?? I made it out of a $3 frame that I found at my local thrift shop. Can you also see the very faint writing on it??

I asked my friend who was hosting the boutique if she had any chalk I could use (I forgot mine) to write the price on it. The one piece she could find was kind of old and barely showed up, but oh well! Anyway, when I got home from the boutique and unpacked all of my unsold treasures, I decided to keep the chalkboard for myself. I went to erase it so I could write something fun on it and that old icky chalk was like permanently on there. It was so strange. Nothing I tried worked. Seriously!!! So, I stuck the thing in my garage and planned to re-spray the chalkboard when I had some free time. Yesterday, I took it apart and sprayed the frame a nice shade of gold, and also resprayed the chalkboard paint. I don't know what was in that weird chalk, but I re-sprayed the chalkboard paint with like 5 coats and it still wouldn't go away!!!!! See....
 What the heck!!??
I did a quick doodle to see if it was noticeable....

It's definitely less noticeable with new writing over it, but I can still see it. Arg! Annoyed! I may just pop the chalkboard out and use it as a frame. We'll see. Seriously, so so strange!

So, that's it for today. My sweet little Hayden had a 103 fever all night so we're laying low today (in our kitchen, ha ha).

Have a great day!
